Help Battery Issues

Any and all help would be nice! Getting about 3 hrs between charges with moderate use. Showing display as biggest user. Nothing appears to be hogging battery that I can see

I'm getting about 12 hours on a single charge with moderate use and all I've done is set a smart action to turn off background data when the screen is off and when I'm not charging. My brightness is on auto but if your screen is the biggest hog, why don't you try and set the brightness to 0% while you're indoors.

Hope this helps.

there are already a few threads about this for you to search for, but a few things real quick...

turn down screen brightness, turn off wifi, turn off bluetooth, turn off gps, have emails check less frequently, have widgets update less frequently, etc.

Any truth to battery needing break in period??

Some people do believe that the battery needs about a week to break in. Others say that your battery life gets better after about a week or two cuz you're not playing with the phone as much as you are within the first week or two of buying it.

Before 4g got turned on, I was getting around 17hrs of moderate use(I know subjective). Verizon turned on 4g in my area yesterday and now I am getting around 12 hours of moderate use. The only thing from a battery conservation thing I am doing is using smart app to disable mobile data when the battery hits 20%. I also switch to wireless once I get home at night.

Have used all options in smart action. Should I try something like juice defender?

I hate to say I'm having similar problems. Have to recharge after 3-4 hours of moderate/low use. The usage stats say display is the biggest hog for me too, but seriously this is pretty much out of the box and I did the necessary SmartActions too (do like this feature very much).

I guess on Monday I'll go back to the store, and see if I want to exchange it for another RAZR or I may as well take a look at the Nexus too, even though the no SD card was a deal breaker for me originally.

3-4 hours is pretty horrendous. is 4G spotty where you live? maybe try shutting it off for a day and see how battery life improves?

there actually were a few people who were having serious battery issues and exchanged their phones and have had much better luck with their new razrs. i think sean76 might have been one of them - he's pretty active, send him a pm maybe...?

we'd hate to see any razr owner switch to a GN just as much as those guys would hate to see one of thier own pick up a razr ;)

LOLZ I know, I wasn't going to post on the GN forum for that very reason! Maybe I did get a defective device. I love everything else about this phone so I'll probably just swap for a new one.

Set your smart actions (disable all others) like this:

Triggers:
Display: OFF
Charging: Not Charging

Actions:
GPS: Turn off GPS
Background Sync: Disable
Wi-Fi: Off
Cellular Data: Disable
Bluetooth: Off

If you still get < 3 hours, you have a defective phone. I've had my phone off the charger for 10 hour and still show 90% battery remaining.

Your phone will still receive calls and texts.

 I'm sorry but do you even use your phone?

Yes, actually I do. However, I'm not glued to it like a lot of people are.

Obviously, I haven't used it a lot today. I was just trying to get a baseline. From that point, you can create smart actions to help manage the battery. The first goal is to see if the device is defective or has a bad battery.

Cool, thanks for the response. I'm not getting incredible long battery life like some people but I'm getting around 10-12 hours per charge so I guess my device isn't defective. I've read that some people are getting 3-4 hours tops.

I'm not a fan of turning off so many - or any - functions. I got my smarthphone to use it. Yes, if an email comes through with the screen off, I want it to push to the phone. I don't even have a razr yet (dx2 currently) and I don't really have battery issues, but in my experience having things sync or not doesn't make that much difference anyway. Mostly it comes down to either having the screen on a lot and/or using a higher intensity app or somehow pushing the cpu hard. JMO and my experience after owning several different android phones. It sounds to me like the OP either has a defective phone or battery or some app is constantly burning up juice in a faulty way.

One thing to think about as well, I work on a computer in an office all day long. There is no reason to have the phone sync and burn battery all day long. I typically use most of my battery life in the evening when I actually use the phone.

For some this is an option, but really it is just turning off options that to me is taking away the point of having a smartphone in the first place. I have several businesses and need and use email push at all timess. I have always left my phones on "performance" mode and really battery life has never been that bad on any of my android phones. If you use a high powered app extensively or have the screen on all the time then yes, you will burn up battery in a hurry.

I completely understand. The display eats battery QUICK!!!

My RAZR's in a 3G area ("Extended" 4G my @$$, VZW Coverage Map...) as I live just outside range, so I'm not having the drainage issues others suffer from. The Smart Actions are a big help making sure my phone's at 5% right around the time I can charge it while sleeping. Today I let the battery stay dead for a half-hour before putting it on the charger: this time without using it while charging (the horror!). I waited until it got to 23% before activating it, and it only ran ambient brightness & background sync while getting to 100%, a few status checks aside: 10 minutes shy of 3 hours to charge...

My battery life is terrible....This is my second one, I've had it since Tuesday! The way I look at it is this way...

If your on your phone quite a bit, and your in a 4G area, get ready for shabby battery life! I happen to think the culprit to my bad battery life on here is Beautiful Widgets...

Yes sir....crappy battery life with my 2nd Razr....is what it is! I'm always near a charger, so its no big giant deal! But I think any device that gets as used as mine would be screaming for juice in 3/4 hours either way!

No, don't say that! Lol. I'm running BW too (just the home widget that shows weather & date, and a few of the toggles) but i set the weather widget to refresh pretty infrequently. (I'm getting about 10-12 hours per charge on an average day. On a day like today where i'm just slobbing around the house mostly and am using wifi with "cellular data" shut off, the phone's been off the charger for about 8 hours and i'm down to 80%. Pretty good!)

i thought i was the only one havings issues.... but there maybe more than just a problem with battery using 4g networks... i live in an area where i don't even get 3G... but i only got 3-4 hrs of usage from my phone even when the data settings from my service provider was put in place ... and yesterday, it died (after just having it for 4 days). I have not been using it as much also since I do not get any 3G signal where I'm from. when i got to the service center I found out someone else had the same exact problem though she had her phone for a longer time.... any one here knows if they made any recalls because of battery issues?

I'm having some serious battery issues to the point the battery has died twice in an hour and I had to use the power button and volume button to get it to turn on. With everything off and I mean everything except talk time I'm getting only 3-4hours. I know the battery has to be bad and this is with smart actions and juice defender running. Display is the biggest user and brightness is zero. Also this is a non lte phone. Its the xt 910.
