Help Battery life after FROYO update....?

vicj

Newbie
So, through Mini KIES, I updated my VIBRANT to FROYO 2.2, KA6, on a completely stock, never rooted phone. My update went smoothly, and everything works perfectly. However, Battery life is much shorter than before the update. Screen time and wi-fi seem to drain the battery MUCH faster than they used to. For example, tonight, surfing the web over my home wi-fi network, I was using 1% battery power for each minute I was surfing!

I have not installed anything new since the update, app-wise, so I'm not sure what could be causing this. Any help out there?

Have you done a factory reset since updating?
Not sure why but this seems to sort out the battery issues for a lot of people.

No, I wanted to avoid having to reload all my apps and contacts.
Logically, I can't see how a factory reset would help battery life. Can anyone explain it to me?

I'm in the same position, except when I loaded 2.2 on to my stock phone I had some serious lag to go with the battery drain. Did a factory reset and the lag is gone, but the battery is alot weaker. I use task killer and notice that even when I kill an app its back running in like 5 mins where as on 2.1 if I killed something it wouldn't be back till I reopened it... I can still use my phone all day with no charge, but before I was getting double that. Hoping 2.2.1 fixes this...

and when will 2.2.1 be available in the US? I'm thinking of going back to my IPhone, unfortunately. My battery life is so ridiculous, that I basically have to carry a "dumb" phone around in order to conserve battery. Why bother?
