Help Battery Life - critical!

Hi guys,

Wondering if any of you could suggest why my battery life is so poor?!

HTC Desire HD (Rooted)
Android version 4.2.2
Kernel 3.0.67_JellyTime
JellyTime_42_R7
CPU - ARMv7Processor rev 1

Play a game and it will drop considerably, took it off charge at 11(ish), played a few games for about a accumulative time of 15 minutes and been on twitter and facebook a few times. Down to 12% already!!

Any ideas?

Thank you!

I'm guessing your phone is coming up to 2 years old ..?

If this is something that's started recently or has been gradually getting worse, it could be you need to replace the battery - they do die eventually, particularly if you're a heavy user.

There are other things you could do to mitigate the issue, but they're unlikely to make a vast difference:

- reduce screen brightness
- minimise the time the screen stays on before 'sleeping'
- turn off radios when not using them (WiFi, GPS, BlueTooth)
- reduce how often apps sync (email, facebook, news, weather etc)
- switch to airplane mode when you don't have a signal (yeah - now we're getting extreme!)

Alternatively, could be the ROM you have installed .. Was that a recent change?

Thanks for the reply.

It is a recent change but it's not been good for a while and i've changed 3-4 time in the past couple of months. Most of those I do anyway so I can't change much. Perhaps my battery is dead?! How much is a new one? Does this happen on the new HTC's because they have unchangeable batteries don't they?

Batteries are pretty cheap. They can be found on ebay but be warned, they all are not created equal. Be certain it's specs match the oem battery. A new one will most likely fix you up.
