Help Battery Life Non-Existant

I've had my galaxy SII (At&t) for about 6 months, but now see that the phone has the nasty habit of when it turns off and back on, the battery would drop anywhere from 10-30 percent. Last night it started dying, even when i had it plugged in. I let it die, then plugged it back in and woke up and saw that it was completely charged, Took it off and it plopped down to 1%.

Looked through some threads, and not sure if it would be needing a new battery, or if there was an incorrect battery status. Never really had battery issues before on prior phones, so not sure what to do.

Appreciate any help/feedback!

I had this issue also and took mine to a repair store since ATT wouldnt do anything for me. It turned out to be a bad port (where the charger plugs into). I was told that ATT knew of this problem with that model and since they didnt have a repair site within 30 miles of me I took it to a diff place. Also I checked the battery with a volt meter and it was shot. Seems it was only suppose to have a year of useful life. Have the port checked out and make sure if needed they order the right one for your phone since there are a bunch of different non-interchangeable ones for that phone.

As others have said, it could be a bad battery, or could be a loose charging port. Take your battery out and lay it on a flat surface. If it rocks back and forth, or can spin easily, it's likely bad. (They "bulge" when they are failing)

For less than $10, you can buy a couple of "okay" quality Chinese batteries and an external charger on eBay. You could then rule out both symptoms, have spare batteries, and would have an external charger to use in case the problem is the USB port.
