Hey everyone,
Need some serious help, im fed up with my samsungs battery life it doesnt charge very well. If i had to get the percentage up to 30 or 40 i would have to keep it charged for at least 8 hlurs.now ive heard tht i might have a faulty device, is tht true? How else can i fix this problem and is it a common problem? 2 3 hours pass i come back and check its at 10 % ...its ridiculous.

How long you had it? Had to replace my battery after a few years.

In your case, if it's less than a couple of years old, find a service centre & demand they replace it for FREE.

Non removable batteries. Gah

Ive tried severl outputs around the house but it still gives me the same result.
I got mine 3 to 4 months ago and it wasnt like at all maybe ive melted the battery for using it too much..as im talking now im trying to hurry as much as i can cuz its on 1% and might switch off at any second.

Have you a red cross on battery indicator on the bar? Is the cable firmly in the plug? Is it the original charger and cable? Has someone else got a note cable and charger that you can borrow to check all of the above?
They are great tablets but they are like an old mother hen when it comes to charging lol.

I've found that its a very moody battery...the first time it stayed stuck on "23%", I panicked and called Verizon. Minutes after I got off the phone with them (in which I got an extended warranty), it strangely started charging up after playing with it a little.

Since then, the battery charging speed varied from steady to really slow. I use several tactics to kick start the charging if its slow.

The first thing I do is turn off the WiFi or 4G internet. Additionally I will shut down the tablet itself, as I can still moniter the progress with the battery icon that shows up when you tap the power button.

The other thing I do that wakes the battery up is unplug and replug the charger, unplug and replug in the second outlet, and plug the charger in the outlet upside down. Or take the tablet to another location and try that plug.

It wouldn't be as big an issue if I didn't browse message boards so much. The battery doesn't hold well to that, but is strong with the apps and media.

I should also add that you'll know for sure that you've woken the battery up when the charger feels warm to touch around the charger head/USB connection. If after 15 minutes of charging, and the % hasn't moved about 2% or so and the charging feels cold, do the replugs and the other stuff. I can usually get a warm charger after one or two replugs.

Guys...I think I've figured it out...the charger that comes with the Tab...is a piece of garbage :).

Recently I was getting a "use the right charger" message no matter what outlet I used. The charging would work, but VERY slowly, after playing around with it.

I was hoping it was the charger, and not a more serious issue like the battery, so I went to the Verizon store to get a new one.

The salesguy gives me the Verizon all purpose charger, and I hesitantly took it. Now all of a sudden its SMOKIN'. I can go from 30% to fully charged in like 2 hours!

I was having slow charging issues since I got this a year ago. I may have just had a crappy charger the whole timely. I can't speak for any other charger, but the Verizon one appears to be the best one.

Wow...you know when you're still using the tab while charging? With the packaged charger, you slowly LOST power. With this Verizon charger, you GAIN power, almost as the same as if you werent using the tab! I was at 95% while web surfing-a huge power drain-and the charge kept going to 100% despite that! I'm streaming video, browsing message boards...the battery would lose power with the packaged charger!

Its model #SAMTABTFL-F. Theres another model number on the plug...A36-502A. I cant believe Samsung packaged that rinky dink charger, it was slow out the box!

My next concern now is, did I lessen the life of the battery with the unnecessary long charging times? Or was it the reverse, and since the charger was weak anyway, I didn't do much harm to the battery? The way this battery is getting a full charge in about 2 hours, its looking like the former.

Link you posted rolls over to a "Oops" page (Not found)

To clarify #SAMTABTFL-F. with A36-502A , rated at 2.1amps @5vdc embossed on plug side of charger is the GOOD charger.
I ask because brother-in law has A36-502A that has a light on the end of usb 6ft cable, with mirco plug (For Galaxy Note). Thought the light on end of cable was a neat idea.

Neither. The only way you can lessen the life of a battery is by overheating it. Since a slow charge would definitely not overheat it, that's not an issue. Also, your new charger likely will not overheat it either, since most tablets (and even my phone) can easily take the 2.1 amps that your new charger outputs. Your tablet charged really slow, now it charges faster. There was likely no battery damage caused by the charger.
