Battery life vs Evo 4G

I'm finally up for an upgrade and am thinking of ditching my Evo 4G and getting the S2. My main concern is battery life. I get about a day on my Evo with normal usage, but if I'm in a weak signal area or just using the phone a little more than usual, it's dead by the afternoon. Things like pandora or even light gaming are basically out of the question if I want the phone to last until the evening. I know this is an Android problem in general, but I can't find much on the S2's battery life other than the official specs. I'm sure a few people here have switched from Evo to S2, how have you found the difference in battery life? Is it noticeable at all, or still pretty crappy?

I went from the Evo 4G to the E4GT and found battery life about the same stock. I did get better on the Evo at the end when I was using an SBC kernel, but they are about the same stock vs stock. I think the GPS radio was better on the Evo, but everything else about the E4GT blows the Evo away - especially the screen/cpu/memory.

Bottom line; I am happy I switched...

i get at least doubled battery life on the galaxy s2 compare to the evo 4g. I was happy with my evo but battery life and lack of memory was the part i didnt like. It not like have a regular flip phone.

This is pretty much exactly how i feel. If HTC was able to make an EVO that was operated as smoothly as the GS2 does, then id probably have stayed with it. Im hopeful the new EVO LTE can match the performance of the GS2, and it rightfully should.

That said, the GS3 does look to finally be Android perfection...

My EVO made me very nervous as it truly hoovered through its battery with normal use. It was a nice phone but the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic Touch was a huge relief vis-a-vis not only battery but all the other bells. Not so much the GPS but hey..........

Now....who can tell me why they saddled this lovely smartphone with a moniker like that??

My battery life has about doubled. With my evo I averaged about 4 hours with my heavy usage. With the epic I can get about 7 to 8 hours with heavy usage. With moderate usage I can go an entire day and still have battery left after i get home.

Under 3 evo... 3 1/2 evo 3D... 4 1/2 - 5 SGS II... On screen time, non stop usage significant difference with gsII also takes longer to charger appx. 2 - 2 1/2 hrs...

I get twice the battery on my 4G Epic Touch vs my EVO 4G

my Epic 4G Touch also charges in half the time it took my EVO 4G to charge.

I dont miss my EVO one bit.
