I have a brand new Samsung Galaxy Nexus, it's about 5 days old, and my battery life is ATROCIOUS. I've downloaded a couple apps that supposedly manage batt life, I've tried turning off all my connections, dimming the screen completely, but to no avail. It just sucks battery down like a fat kid on a bag of Doritos. If I'm not using it at all, it will still use a significant amount of battery. I have to charge it probably 5-6 times a day, especially if I'm dinking around with it, downloading apps, playing games, Facebook etc. I'd say in full use, say playing Angry Birds or Cartoon Wars, I probably get like 2 hours out of it. I can't even imagine what it would be like if I turned my screen all the way up.
Otherwise, it's the best electronic device I've ever purchased, but having to carry a charger with me and spend probably 3-4 hours a day with my phone plugged in to a socket is bloody ridiculous. Even if I don't do anything but occasionally turn my screen back on to check the time, I haven't seen the battery icon at full for more than 10 minutes. It's unbelievable.
I'm willing to buy a better battery or something, because while it's a great mini-tablet, more or less, it's pretty awful as a phone if I'm depending on carrying a cord around everywhere and my phone is dying when I actually need it.
So I'm kind of conflicted. It's an amazing piece of electronics but it has less battery life than a 1st gen Playstation Portable. Unacceptable.
Just for an example, my Blackberry Bold 9700 that I upgraded from is still sitting on my desk. I charged it 7 days ago and it's still at 30%. It's not doing anything that drains the battery, but conversely, if I left this phone for 7 days it would have been dead 6 1/2 days ago.
