battery life

Hey all, just got an Lg G2 about two months ago making the jump from Apple to android. One of the reasons i chose this phone was the reported "great battery life". I have noticed nothing like great battery life. In fact after about 3-4 hours of normal use my phone has dropped to as low as 50%. What if any actions can i take to improve bat. life? What bloat ware is safe to remove? Any advice would be appreciated. I am otherwise happy with the G2. Again this is my first android so forgive my ignorance.

To improve battery life turn off GPS, Bluetooth, and Wifi when you are not using. Also turn down display I keep mine around 55% with automatic brightness enabled. But 55% is the baseline. Also unless you root you can not delete bloatware some can be disabled, but not all.

Rooting is like jailbreaking an Iphone. In android it allows you to change roms, delete bloatware, Change processor speed (Slower Or faster) It does Void your warranty. but it is worth it it gives you the ability to get the full potential out of your device.

I found this on another forum, I just did it today. It is working. I am on ATT- not sure if this is ATT specific (it was on the ATT LG L2 forums). I will quote it here (thanks to Just_Some_Nobody)...

"Settings->general->apps->running
Look for Android System. Click it and you should see carrier IQ and can stop it. After i stop it I also stop Android System."

Basically stop this app at the 2 levels (first IQ, then Android). Do this, reboot the phone, and you must do it again after the phone is back on (as the app defaults on).

So I am currently 4 hrs 3 mins usage. 76 hours 54 min expected time to use. Recently I have been getting about 12-18 hours of use

Clearly my battery usage bar is not dropping as quickly. Hope this helps.

Yup, I have everything else on (wi-fi, bluetooth, etc). It was the only change I made.

My battery had 60-70% juice left in the morning. It usually dies at night, prior to the IQ/Android change.

Amazing battery life now.

I removed that carrier iq app too. Got like 10% bump in battery life. It was excellent battery life either way though.
