What's the best way to get the most out of your battery?

I don't currently have a spare... although a recommendation for a larger capacity battery would be nice. I've seen some on ebay that say they're 1800 and others than claim 2400... but always wary of such claims.

Is there a way of seeing what capacity battery you have from within the OS?

Are there any apps that can help reduce battery use... such as switching of apps and features after a set period of time.

How often does it check for emails, can this be adjusted, same for G+ updates (don't use facebook/twitter so removed friend stream from home screens).

What's the best way to charge the phone... via USB from the PC or from the mains charger... Personally I think I'll be connected to the PC most of the time at home and using the internet pass through function... especially for those larger downloads.

Does the phone prefer a wireless connection at home, or can it be set to default to wireless. I'm PAYG and pay

You can turn auto synching off and just do it manually each time you want to check.

As for batteries... I'd be wary of 3rd party batteries - heard that they don't always sit correctly (meaning that you can't close the battery compartment or that it's a tight fit).

There is a way to see what capacity is from within the OS, but I can't remember... will have a bit of a think about it/play with my phone and see if I can't tell how to get the info and let you know.

I think that Tasker could help you in switching off things - you can do it by location... think it's also possible by time (not sure though, as I've not used it). Juice defender is supposed to be quite good too - again, I can't really comment, as I've not used it before.

A simple way to save battery is to not have WIFI/3G on all the time... I only turn 3G on if I'm out and want to check something (although I do ahve WIFI on pretty much constantly... again, unless I know I'm gonna have no WIFI signal for quite a while)!
