Help Battery needs replacing?!

daveytn

Newbie
Sorry that i have posted up a couple of threads now. I have narrowed it down to being the battery, and i would just like some peoples opinions to what they think the problem is?

I have some screenshots of my phone, so hopefully i can post them up in here as img's..

This is the app "androsensor" displaying overvoltage in the battery health section -

Telling me the phone is on charge when nothing was connected to the phone:

The constant message as everyone is probably aware of:

Again with use of the app "androsensor" displaying voltage and health of battery at the current time, less then 50%.

If you havent already worked out, my phone will be absolutely fine if the charge percentage of the battery is between 11% and 50%, any higher then 50% and it will show all signs that it is charging (such as lock screen) and keep reminding me the voltage is too high. Also, if i turn the phone off i can't switch it back on because it keeps displaying the charging screen and i have to plug the charger in to be able to actually switch the phone back on. I have spoken to my nework/carrier (o2) and they have said they will send me out a new battery next week, and i am hoping that will be the end of this. Does anybody else think this will solve the issue also?

I am quite technical minded and realise that the voltage readings when more then 50% seem to be higher then that of the battery itself (3.7V), and i have never known a battery to hold more voltage the older it gets. The highest it reads when fully charged is almost 4.3volts, which i can't see how. Would anybody else be able to use the "androsensor" app and most up screenshots of your battery voltages? So i can clear up whether this is at all normal behaviour or not.

Thanks kindly!

i dont know what that is? i have never modified my phone other then backgrounds etc its as it left the factory

The only thing then would be to get a new battery. Since it last only a little it might be going bad.

Hey,
I'm having the same problem with my S2.
First I was getting the battery heat warning so I went into O2 and they told me that my S2 needed updated but even then it might not solve the problem. If it didn't solve it, they'd need to send it away and get it fixed. I let them update it and it soled the heat warning problem but now I have the "voltage too high" problem. Did a new battery help?

I would try a new battery as a process of elimination. Look on eBay there are heaps, and a decent one for aroun $10. I have 4 batteries incl the original one which I have hardly used. They are often thrown in cases, chargers etc. So it won't cost much more to confirm or solve your problem.

I got a new battery and that didn't solve the problem. I was so sure I was going to have to get it sent away. I went back to the O2 shop and they told me that if the battery didn't help, nothing else could be done. Had to get sent away. I kept looking on other forums to see if other people had found a solution to the same problem. A few peeps had said all it needed was a clean so I decided to try cleaning the slot where the charger plugs into. I bought a 0.5mm interdental brush and would you believe it worked!! I haven't had a problem since.

If anyone else has this problem, I would suggest trying this. Other people had said to use contact cleaner on the brush but I just used it to clean straight out the pack.
Where would we be without the internet and these forums!

Thanks! :)
