Battery Notifcation Icon

I have a feeling some people are judging their battery life based on this icon and just wanted to point out how the Battery Icon in the notification bar isn't very accurate and can be misleading to what your actual battery charge is.

I noticed this on my Eris, and it's the same on the Thunderbolt... and I believe it's the same for any HTC phone for that matter.

Here are the increments that you can visually see on the icon - I think the green fill rate notches off in these increments:

100% green fill showing - battery is actually between 100% and 95%.
90% green fill showing - battery is between 94% and 75%.
66% green fill showing - battery is between 74% and 50%
33% green fill showing - battery is between 49% and 25%
15% orange fill showing - battery is between 24% and 15%
15% red fill showing - battery is below 14%

And for reference - the 66% green fill rate looks more like 50%. If I didn't know this from using the Eris... I'd be wondering why the battery is draining so fast... when in reality it's not.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong... or explain this better.

Battery indicator is broken into 6 parts.
100%-90% Full
70%-89%
50%-69%
30%-49%
15%-29% Yellow
0-14% Red

Definitely can be deceiving at first glance. Thanks for posting!

It's weird that you can't get (or at least I can't find) the ACTUAL percentage in the Battery Status (in the settings).

I went back to using the "Quick Battery" widget which is pretty awesome.
