Battery Percentage Explanation

OK, there is a lot of confusion of how the percentage listed besides the different apps under the battery usage works.

It's really really simple, guys, you're trying to make it way more complicated.

Let's say I have 3 apps listed under Battery Usage:

  1. Android OS = 45%
  2. Display = 32%
  3. Cell Standby = 22%
(Yes, I know they don't add up to 100% - this is from my own phone having just replaced the battery with a fresh fully charged battery after approximately 30 minutes of use).

Those percentages are not telling you how much total battery charge has been used (meaning Android OS has not used 45% of your battery full charge already).

Those numbers are saying How much of the total used charge went to each app.

IOW, if in 30 minutes, you have used 5% of your total battery charge, then (doing the math):

  1. Android OS has used 45% *OF* that 5% charge used
  2. Display has used 32% *OF* that 5% used
  3. Cell Standby has used 22% *OF* that 5% used.

IOW, of the actual full 100% charge, After 30 minutes of use, you have

  1. Android OS using 2.25% of your total battery thus far (45% of 5%)
  2. Display using 1.6% of your total battery charge (32% of 5%)
  3. Cell Standby using 1.1% of your total battery charge (22% of 5%)

So why couldn't Google have made it simpler and just do the math for us lol. Although I already understood the values it should hopefully shine some light on some others who don't.

My Cell Standby is at 49% lol but I suspect that due to being inside a building with poor signal.

Seriously....I can't understand my Bionic for the life of me...

I'll have the brightness on like 20% and it'll say display has used 40%?

Or cell standby will say 52%?

I think its BS if you ask me John!

Only real task monitor that ever worked IMO is the Samsung one they're phones...
Moto's in my eyes is just about half baked. Its so inaccurate.

I don't have that issue at all, see pictures below:

Also, this is on Auto Brightness.
