Help Battery problem with my S3?

I have been using my S3 for a couple of months now, and it has worked great. I used it for a few hours yesterday in my truck, where I don't have a charger, so by the end of a long day, the battery was dead. I received the 15% battery remaining message, and a couple of hours later noticed the phone was off. I put it on the factory charger when I got home, and left it there overnight. When I plugged it in last night, the grey battery symbol came on, so I assumed it was charging. This morning when I went to use the phone, it would not turn on. I plugged it back into the charger, and nothing happened. I took the battery out and plugged it in, it vibrated and the red LED flashed. I then inserted the battery, and it did the same thing. It won't turn on, but it's only been charging for a few minutes, so I can't really test anything.

Anybody have an idea whether my phone is dead (not sure why it would be), or is this just possibly a battery issue?

Update: I checked the voltage of the battery, and it was 4.2V. So, I don't think it's a battery issue, must be the dreaded motherboard problem. It's under warranty, but I bought it used and it's rooted, so is that going to be an issue?

Update 2: Googling the issue came up with a lot of posts, mostly about warranty repair. But, one poster said all they did was blow on the battery connections, so I gave it a shot. It worked, and now so is my S3. Odd
