Root battery problems

battery seems like it is dying really quickly sense ive made changes to everything...i searched through alot of threads about soloutions like recalibrating the battery..is there anyother way to get the battery to last longer? maybe an app like task killers..if my phone is fully charged ..and i use it for like 20-25 mins it will go down to about 90-85%..just started draining so fast in the past month..any suggestions would be apreciated

I use Juice Defender Ultimate on the Extreme setting and get about 2.5 days out of a charge unless I'm really using it heavy, but even then, never less than 8 hours. Your case seems pretty bad though. The stock battery is a 1500 mAh lithium-ion pack, and while that's not a huge capacity, it ain't too shabby either. Li-Ion batteries typically don't require conditioning, nor do they develop memory. That leaves just a couple of culprits: A process that is running and using a lot of power, like a GPS, or the phone searching for a signal when it's in a poor coverage situation, the phone itself has some physical condition causing high current drain or the battery might be bad.

You can check the processes by going into Settings -> About Phone -> Battery Use.

Checking current drain is kinda tricky, coz 2 hands just ain't enough to hold everthing in place. Plus, now that I think about it, I don't know where one would get the current specs for the phone! Let's cross that bridge if and when we need to. We might have to poll a few folks to see what is typical, and use that as a baseline.

That leaves the battery itself. Do you remember ever dropping or jarring it? If so, a solder joint might have been cracked and you might only be running on some but not all of the cells inside. You'd have the right voltage, but not enough current capacity.

thanks for your response...luckily ive never droped it or anything like that..i have the gps and stuff like that enabled so maybe i should kick it off..my signal at home is garbage ..but a little better sense i changed to sprint prl..my phone just started draining alot of battery in the past month..which is kinda in line with all the stuff iv been doing to it...not saying being rooted or ctmod is doing it ..but maybe some of these apps..i dont have the app manager i used to have to select apps to stop running when i dont need them too..juice defender worth a shot?

OK I disabled wireless networks because I never run phone off of wifi anyway..I disabled the GPS option too..so you think juice proablly wont do much good because I'm running ctmod? I know that CT mod is really light ..maybe one of the apps I have downloaded could be draining it? I don't really have a lot of apps..I try and keep it light.

Glad to see im not the only person having battery issues.
My battery started draining quickly like that, and now it wont even go over 48%, if im lucky.
If you figure anything out about how to fix it, let me know, as I've tried pretty much everything.
Best of luck to you.

The Wireless Networks I mentioned is located in “Location & Security” has nothing to do with Wifi as it help to locate your location with GPS off. I think it comes down to an app or two that is hogging your data connection when it’s pretty spotty placing a strain on the battery. Perhaps there’s a setting you can use within the app itself.

You can always uninstall the apps and bring them in daily to find the culprit.:)

:rolleyes:I'm curious to what it is myself.

Yeah the lactation one...that's the one I meant : ) ...I'm gonna check into the settings of some of my apps..and see what I can change..would I need to look mostly at apps trying to access the internet?
