Battery questions?

Hi,
I just bought a used tab 4 10.1".
How long should a full charge take?
From no charge it takes 8hrs to get to 70% on ac.
Also how long should a charge last?
I get about 3 days in standby, no use.
I get about 4 hrs of internet (no video)
Location, bluetooth disabled.
Debating whether to return, or is this normal and is there a easy fix?

TIA

Jazz

I have a Note 10.1 (2014) and if you use a charger that delivers less than 2.1 amps, then it charges tortuously slow. * hours to get to 70% sounds about right. With moderate use I get maybe 3~4 days, with no use possibly a week.

What version of Android is it running? Once I updated to Lollipop, my battery life improved.

Are you using the original charger that came with the Tab? It sounds like you might be using a lower specification charger. Looking up the specs for your Tab 4 10.1 it has a 6800 mAh battery.

1 amp = 1000 mA so you have a 6.8 amp battery, so hypothetically you could use a 6 amp power source to zap that battery to a full charge really quickly. But in reality 6 amps is a LOT of current, our mobile gadgets won't even allow anywhere near that much amperage, and most wall chargers are in the 2 - 2.5 amp range. If you're using on older 1 amp charger that could account for the slow charging time. Also, if you're charging your Tab using a USB 2.0 port on a computer or laptop, USB 2.0 ports are typically capped at 500 mA, so you're usually better off using a wall wort than a computer's USB port (USB 3.x are much higher).

This is only a tentative suggestion, maybe you might want to think about replacing battery. The Tab 4 model is a couple of years old now and while most batteries typically last several years, at the same time it's not unheard of for a two year old battery to start having issues. All lithium-ion batteries have a set number of charge cycles and if your Tab's previous owner put in a lot of daily usage it's possible the battery is just wearing down.
The Tab 4 battery isn't a generally a user replaceable one but luckily Samsung opted not to use glues, adhesives, or any other impediments to make it difficult for someone who does want put in a new one. This vid shows the process:
This package from Amazon has a replacement battery including the tools necessary:

Hello!
- about 4 hours
- depending on what apps you are using and what you're doing (mine lasts all day when casually surfing the 'net, checking email, chatting, etc. I usually jump back and forth between 4 or 5 apps at a time)
- I recommend leaving Bluetooth disabled unless you need it (I never turn mine on because I have no reason to)
* your charge time (8 hours?) is not right...check your charger - that might be the culprit - and make sure you are using the right one for your specific device...if you are, exchange it for a new one (might be a lemon from the factory)
