Battery related question

I have a question. My charger is messed up (you have to move it in order to charge) and i believe that is the cause of my battery drainage.. I wanted to switch charger (exact same one) it charged much faster but the battery drained even faster. In my head its logical to think that i have to drain my battery completely so i can start over with that charger. Would that help?

It's fairly new, so let the phone run until it shutdowns itself and charge it again to full.

The best method is to charge the battery while the phone it's off, but my LG always starts itself as soon as the battery has enough of power, it could be a model specific, anyway my LG has the best battery life of all the smartphones I have owned.

Hello i have an lg leon almost exactly 1 year old and im experiencing issues. Sometimes when i put my phone to charge after hours its at the same percentage and when i take battery out and back in and charhe it again it updates the percentage (sometimes) and sometimes it just stays the same. Its a good time to mention that my charger is a little bit messed up (have to move it in right position to charge) and ive also been experiencing extreme percentage drops quickly. I was wondering what could be causing this. Plz help. Lg leon, TMOBILE, not rooted, and i believe it is at 5.1

Just to mention that the charger may actually have broken your battery (too high current, fluctuating current, etc), so you may have to watch out for it.

Is it the charger or the cable that is messed up? The cable is more likely (having to move things sounds like a broken wire), but if changing cable does not fix that then get a new charger and don't use the old one.

If you want to try draining the battery just do it the once. Draining lithium batteries isn't good for them, and doing it regularly will degrade the battery. Personally I'm sceptical - a charger is just a current source, and all of the intelligence is in the phone, so simply changing chargers doesn't itself require any special action.

But it is the charger i got when i got my phone..it is messed up because it keeps connecting and disconnecting
If your charger keeps connecting and disconnecting then its time to get a new charger. I had similar problems regarding this matter.
Sometimes I had to twist and turn the wire of the charger cable. The insides of the charger are probably damaged.
You should just get a new charger.

Actually im pretty sure its the cable but my cable is connected to my charger i cant just take it off...my question is can this be the source of my battery dropping down quickly?

You can't remove the cable?? I can't remember when I last saw one of those!

Could it affect battery longevity? Possibly, if it's been charged with a stop/start, intermittent current. Try another charger, give it a few usage cycles and see whether it improves. Hopefully it hasn't damaged the battery.

The charger sipped with my old Moto E 2015 that I used to use as a backup came with a charger like that lol
Needless to say I put it away and forgot all about it...
To the OP, I'd definitely say it is your charger, get a new one and see if that helps but you may have done some damage to your battery so you may have to end up replacing it as well (if it is removable).

Do you have to move the cable or the actual micro USB plug? If the latter try cleaning the charger port on your phone using a needle, very carefully! A thin piece of plastic packaging [the sort you need scissors to open!] is useful for the top of the port. I'm a landscape gardener and have to clean mine regularly or the port gets blocked and charging can become intermittent.
