Root Battery saving tip..(Sensors)

The Lg Motion has sensors that I rarely use, but logs show the hardware consumes a good amount of battery. So I found a way to disable some sensors for longer battery life. The touchscreen, battery, and cpu heat sensors will still operate fine.

In /data/system/sensors is file called sensors
It has a value of 1 in the file (this means sensors on). Change to 0 and reboot.

This will disable the Accelerometer Sensor, Orientation Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Magnetic Sensor and GPS.

I use mx player for video. If you go into its settings and choose (system default)in video orientation, there is a button on the screen to watch in horizontal mode.

Change the file from 0 back to 1, reboot, and sensors are re-enabled. Also, a factory reset will re-enable all these sensors.

What app do u personally use to open up the "sensors" file. I usually use script manager but am unable to open it. Thank you.

Its isnt a script.
I use root explorer and root browser. Either will work. Other file managers will work also.

Also for those curious how much these sensors use
Get Android tuner. Charge battery to 100
Use phone for awhile
Open android tuner then go to app manager then statistics
Click On Battery
Below will be a list of apps and services that use battery
I forgot which its under
Catefully touch Android system
It will show all system functions consuming vattery
The sensor is listed as something like
Bm5000 maybe bma2500
I forget which sensor the motion uses
On the right will show in (ma) the useage.

Use root browser, navagate to the file
Press and hold till "open as" apears
Choose "text editor"
Put the cursor to the right of the "1"
Click "backspace"erasing the "1"
Click "0"
Hit the "go back arrow" on the very bottom left if your phone
This will bring up "save" or "cancel"
Click "save"
Reboot

If you carry your phone around all day and compare your battery use after you turn the sensors off , you'll notice more battery left.
It worked for me and this never bothers my Angry Birds, LOL

Thanks

This is a little cool, but also a little weird. lol

So you walk around and you don't have a battery reading? How do you know if your phone is about to die?
:D

sorry i thought i mentioned, battery, cpu, touchscreen and i think the proximity sensors are separate and still work fine
yes this will inhibit gps direction, but change setting reboot and all sensors work again

I find it really difficult to understand what you're writing. Never mind getting a script, instead I think we need to get an interpreter. loll
:p

changing the value from 1 to zero disables a piece of hardware that is solderd into main or "motherboard"
this piece of hardware is made by Bosh
Bosh had named it thw Bma250

this is a link to a page at Bosh's website that contains info on the Bma250

I use All in one toolbox with the battery app, Android Tweaker and Root Exployer. they tells me what is going on and lets me do what I want.
I also am using my motion as a Mini Tablet, So battery is my only concern.

Using Android Sensor Box, it shows that the following sensors become disabled on our phone:

Accelerometer Sensor, Orientation Sensor, Proximity Sensor, Magnetic Sensor

Also, like you said, the GPS appears to be disabled. Please add this information to the top post, so that everyone can easily see what this modification does. Nice find rhino889a

Cheers
