Help Battery Taking Longer and Longer to Charge

Barats

Android Enthusiast
Usually on my Note 2, it would charge the battery completely to green (100%) in just under 2 hours. And this was with it really low. Now for the past few days or maybe up to a week, it is taking an extremely long time. Yesterday, it took over 4 hours to charge completely. This morning, I put it on the charger around 9:30am. It was around 11% or so. Over 2 hours later, it has only charged to 37%.

I usually got about 10% every 10-15 minutes. Now it's about 10% an hour it seems.

Any help or what would be causing this?

Going to try that app. I have two chargers and both tske forever to charge while at home. However, when I charge my phone at work using one of the two chargers my phone charges up extremely quickly. Something is not right, not sure if it's my outlets at he or the battery. Restarts have no effect.

Here is what you get when you are using the proper 2 mA charger from Samsung, when I use a none Samsung charger one from Motorola for example, the is usually 500 and the Avg is the same.

Ok I downloaded the app but really have no idea what I am reading.

Mine is charging right now an goes like this:

Max: 900
Now: 1698
Avg: 900

????

*Now* is all you should care about. Sometimes I plug in charger and Now reads 466. I unplug and plug back in and it reads 1698.

I called Sammy today about random charging rates. They are unaware of this condition. :stupid: At least with this app I can monitor to eliminate a slow charging rate. :D

It means that you are charging your phone ay 1698 mA.

But I still really have no idea what any of it means. Is 1698 good or bad? I have nothing to compare it to. The only numbers that seem to change are the max and avg. The last 2 times I have charged my phone it was 1698 for the now.

Check your charger. What is its output? Compare that to the 'now'.

Hmmm when do Max get updated? If you are actually charging at 1698 right now, shouldn't Max be at LEAST 1698?

Sometimes this kind of current flow detector has a lot of problems just like mine.

But when I charge. ..

I have noticed that while charging with the stock charger is fast, charging by plugging into a computer USB port takes much longer.

I have noticed that while charging with the stock charger is fast, charging by plugging into a computer USB port takes much longer.

This is a known thing (not calling it an issue as it's not) due to one of two things: The output on your computer is limited to 500mA (for the most part) and or using a conventional usb cable dumbs the current down to 500mA or so.

Anyway, I deleted that Galaxy charging app. It shows 1600mA yet there is no way that's accurate, during a ten minute period my battery will charge 1%. I don't have that issue at work and I'm starting to think it has to do with the fact that my home charger is always plugged in while not in use yet my work charger is not. I tired my work charger at home and the phone charged great but if I leave the work specific charger plugged in for more than a day at home, the same slow charging issue re-emerges.

The computer USB port has limited current output that is capped at around 500mA compared to the stock charger.
