My Note 2 was charging fine until I replaced the sim card reader. Now it won't charge at all even when I try switching in a new battery. I was very careful not to break anything and I'm almost positive I didn't. I'm thinking maybe the new sim reader is causing it. What do you guys think?

If you mean that you replaced the SIM card socket you most likely DID break "something". No one can tell you what it is that you broke without taking the phone apart and tracing circuits to find what's not what it should be. Hours of work (much more expensive than having paid someone to install a new SIM socket), but since it's a Note 2, probably worth repairing.
