I have a Nexus 4 and quite often run out of battery, especially when visiting my kids in London and using Google maps a fair bit. Please can anyone recommend a good portable battery top up thingamybob?

Thank you.

Thank you once again for your help. Just got to choose between the Anker choices now. Need something fairly portable in a pocket but with the best charge possible. Think from your reviews that is probably going to be the Asto 2, but still looking! Thanks again!

I chose the Astro 2 and have been very pleased with it. Several of my friends have ordered one too after looking at mine.

However, I haven't been pleased with the quality of the cable which is already showing signs of wear after only 2 months. I have contacted Anker about my disappointment and have received a

With cables, that's a tough question. You will find thousands of suppliers, lots of them dirt cheap, and even if you buy a cable from one with a good quality, the next purchase from the same supplier might not be as good. These are cheap and have zero quality control. And btw, just because something cost $7 it doesn't mean it will be better than $0.99 cable. I personally like micro-usb cables from monoprice.com, but they went down in quality as well :( Today, usb cables are almost looked upon as a disposable accessory...

I just bought is this portable battery and so far so good Incipio offGRID Back-Up Battery - 8000mAh

I love it! It charges fast since it has a high 3.1A output and has a pretty big capacity so you can even charge your tablet if you have one

Hang on, you are telling us you just spent $95 for a smaller capacity 8000 mAh external battery when you can get #1 selling amazon brand battery for 1/3 of that price with 50% higher capacity? You are either very rich or work for Incipio, I guess? ;)

Ooops! I just started a new thread about this cable issue as these replies didn't show up on my phone! Probably user error!

Thanks for the advice, I live in the UK so will have to find one here. I'll probably buy a couple then as I seem to be hard on cables that I carry around all day. I recharge the phone a lot with my Anker as I'm often in the middle of a field or sat in a chair without any electric sockets near it!
