Help Battery use by Android System

I use Badass Battery Monitor to keep track of my battery, and I notice that often Android System is the major battery user, even when the phone is basically idle.
Is it normal for Android System to be using 95%+ of the battery?

In this case (according to your screen shot) Android OS has used 95% of the 5% of battery your phone has used. That makes perfect sense as it does need to keep the phone running when everything else is idle.
