BBM Messanger

Anyone try it yet? Just got the email saying that it's available but i'm away from my phone and was hoping some one can give some feedback on it.

Unless you got on they're waiting list prior to launch, you can't even use it once you download it. They have to send you an activation code first. Not exactly a stellar way to introduce a product IMO.

I don't plan to try it as I already use WhatsApp and there's really no one on BBM that I need to contact.

I did read the reviews and they were rather "interesting." ;)

Got it and got the activation. Know no one on bbm so just got a useless notification sat in my notification bar.

Once people start using it it sounds interesting esp with the group chats but we'll soon see

Been wondering this for a while now so maybe someone here can fill in the details.

What's the big wow with BBM? I hear a lot of fuss over it but not sure why, it's just a messaging application right? What advantages does it offer other other apps for example.

The big deal is that at one point BBM was the preferred alternative to SMS offering a number of features that you couldn't get elsewhere. It had the advantage of a relatively large user base of Blackberry users so it was fairly likely if you were using BBM others you know were as well (ie you didn't have to convince people to install to be useful). It was actually popular amongst the kids at one point.

If this had been released 2 or 3 years it ago it might of helped keep Blackberry relevant. However it wasn't and in today's world of Hangouts, Whatsapp, iMessage, Facebook Chat etc etc etc......I think it is just going to be a case of too little too late.

But hey they over 10mil downloads across iOS & Android in the first 24 hours, so who knows.

I tried it, and found out I do not have any contacts with a BBM pin, so instead of begging for that...delete.

I am still trying to find a good SMS program that works for me. I have CHOMP on there now, used textra, will never use go sms/handcent etc...again.....always looking for good alternatives...

I'm using it a bit more now and the groups thing is pretty good, with more people it could basically be a forum.

If enough people on here have it we could start an S3 BBM group and be geeks with push!

Another reason for my missus to roll her eyes at me :D

Downloaded it, tried it, deleted it. Absolutely no need for it when I can use Whatsapp & Google Hangouts.
