Yeah, I don't understand that either and I used to use my Beats with my iPhone without problems. The only thing I can tell you is that if you download doubleTwist, which is way better than the default music player, you can at least double click to change to the next song. You still can't change the volume but at least it's something. It's easier to slide my hand in my pocket to change the volume using the rocker anyway but changing the song would require me to wake up the screen.
