Help Beats solo HD mic not working GS3

I have a Beats Solo HD headphones and whenever I connect my headphones to my Galaxy S3, the mic does not work at all. I can watch YouTube videos on it with the headphones and listen to music fine but I can't answer calls through the mic. Is there something wrong with the phone or the headphones? anybody else have this problem?

Take a look at the link below at all the call settings you can change, especially the headset settings and see if it helps at all.

The mic and ground are swapped. Most of the headphones with mic controls today are made with the mic and ground to work with iPhones, which are swapped in all other (Android) phones. So, unless they specifically say "Android", you're out of luck.

If this is true then this has got to be the most stupid thing I have heard. It would make sense to build headphones for all operating systems since iOS is not the biggest OS out there anymore nor is it the only.

Walk into any major retailer and you will always see accessories for i-Products. They dominate the market, and when they made the change, the industry had to follow.
OS size doesn't matter when it comes to hardware popularity.
