Help Before Updating to JB

Before I update, should I backup apps or home screens, etc. I seem to recall that, unless you are doing a whole number update (like 3.xxx to 4.xxx), you don't have to reinstall all of your apps and settings. They should all remain. I just got the OTA software update notice. I just need to know what to do before I proceed.

The tablet is new and it's not completely setup, yet. I'm still in the process of doing that and installing apps.

Thanks.

OEM updates shouldn't erase any data or reset your device at all. They're designed and tested to cause as few problems as possible for the end user on a stock machine. (Not that it doesn't happen on occasion, but that seems to be the exception instead of the rule)

The only exception would be if you're rooted and using a custom ROM - then the update could brick your Tab so I'd either avoid it or wait until a compatible version for your ROM is put out.
