I just tried it out, and after using the program, yes it works, I started the camera, where it freezes and then reboots on its own.

UPDATE: Ok I found that if you exit the torch app with the end call key instead of the home key, you can start the camera up fine.

Mines does not reboot after it freezes, i have to do a battery pull, however i did notice that if i kill the activity via advanced task manager before i go into the camera or camcorder i have no problems.

Yeah, there's some odd interaction with the camera. I will probably take out the "Timeout" feature as this makes it worse, and recommend people not utilize the widget or app in any way while a camera app is running or vice-versa.

In the application I uploaded you can tap the bulb to turn the light on and off. I haven't had any FC's or any other errors people are stating so far. Been testing the app since I fixed it.

it still freezes up my phone (glowing pear) when i go to the camera app, this is if i dont kill the task of the flashlight

Give me 5 minutes and will release another version to fix that. ;) An exit button should cure this as I forgot 1.5 doesn't kill threads like 1.6 does.

is there any way you could make a widget like the moment flash? or would this not close it properly, not allowing for a proper exit

You can also change the JNI code not to hold the file descriptor handle open, I think. You can open(), perform ioctl, close() and it should work fine and won't exhibit this issue (I _think_).

I think my problem is with the LED timeout thing. Also, it seems at least on the moment if you try to open the device, even though it correctly returns an error that it's being used it messes up the state of the camera. So changing flash state in any way while the camera is in use (or even trying to) seems a bad idea unless there's some other trick I'm missing.

Here ya go. Also, a few notes about the app:

* Tap the build to toggle the led on/off
* Menu system added
* Quick Flash - Will do what it says. Will set off a flash effect.
* Homepage - Does what it says.
* Quit - Exits the program and stops all camera threads that it was using.

I could setup a widget and attach preferences to it for you. You will get to pick a time the LED stays on when the widget is clicked. After that time the led turns off and kills the task. That would be the only way to not have issues with your camera possibly. I will play around with it more tonight and see what I can come up with.

ok thanks, maybe have the widget go on in 10sec intervals for each click, but a double click ends it completly, or maybe one click turns it on and the other click turns it off, but makes it still run, but a double click kills the threads! who nows lol im sure you will come up with something:p

even after i press quit, it is still running in the task pane, does quit only end the camera threads but dot the process itself?

OK, here's a version that should work fine on the Behold 2 (in theory, since I can't actually test).

On the Behold 2 I disable bright mode (it only seems to work for 1 second and doesn't seem much use, and will cause synchronization issues with the status light).

I also disabled the LED timer which seemed to be what was causing issues with camera apps, so in theory this shouldn't cause any such issues.

Let me know of any issues.

yes it works perfect

Moment flash works perfectly now it does not require being kill in taskiller or advance task manager and it doesnt mess with the camera or camcorder functions at all. Behold 2 torch works fine but it still requires being killed or it will freeze camera/camcorder functions. both fine apps and something that i miss from my sony ericsson phones. Keep up the good work guys

I can't thank you enough. By the end of my Touch Pro use, this was the only functional, useful thing about it.

Seriously.. cheers and thanks!
