Root Being sent to recovery when installing update

I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but when I attempt to install 4.2.2, it takes me to CWM Recovery and tries to install the zip through that; it says the zip is unverified and then throws up a small list of errors, which makes no sense because it is directly from Google. Ideas would be appreciated. P.S.: I was on Motley Kernel for 4.2.1 but I flashed the stock kernel (seemingly) successfully before downloading 4.2.2.

You'll need to use Wugs toolkit to reflash the stock recovery in order to accept the OTA. Because of the way custom recoveries operate, they won't flash official OTA updates.

No problem!

Might want to install Voodoo OTA Rootkeeper too so you can temp unroot backup your SU Binaries. OTA's generally break root unfortunately.

If you download the update.zip from google it can actually be flashed from a custom recovery.

Well... I flashed the stock recovery, downloaded the update, and started the install, but an error popped up. Just an error. No details. Error. Should I say screw it and factory reset?

Sounds to me like you probably didn't pass the device check at the beginning of the install

The latest TWRP worked for me with the OTA.

Yes ill confirm twrp will flash the ota update. cwm i don't use.

I did stop Google Services Framework one time to get the update to come back.
