Help Being woken up at 4am.

Under Settings there is an item called "Notification ringtone." It's not clear what this ringtone relates to. I have a ringtone for calls, another for texts and none for emails. It's none of these. Last night at 4am my San Francisco phone decided to play the "Notification ringtone." I have not been able to figure out what it was trying to notify me of. What is this all about, and can I get rid of it?
 
Notifications are just that, notifications. Can be anything from a text, email, you could have lost signal, you could be roaming, you could be low battery, etc.

Sounds like I may have to ensure I always leave the phone in a separate room at night then. Seems a bit daft.
 
its beepin for a reason m8+every beep should leave a notification in status bar
maybe its posessed.....
did u hav a psycho phone-geek ex-gf who's turned it against u?
