Root Bell Galaxy S Original Modem Version

I've got a question I hope someone can answer. I have an unlocked I9000M (Bell Vibrant) that I am using on Rogers in Canada. The stock firmware will only connect to a 3G network, as Bell only has 3G no 2G and I was able to make calls just fine. After updating to Darky 9.5 I can no longer connect to the 3G network, it will only connect to the 2G network. When set to WCDMA only it will connect to the Telus network and tell me "Emergency Calls Only". When I try to select the Rogers WCDMA network it tells me it cannot register to the network.

After the initial flash it was using the JVE modem. Following the instructions here, I flashed to the JQ1 modem, but I am still experiencing the same problem.

I am able to make calls over the 2G network, but would like to be able to only use 3G. Any help would be appreciated.

that's strange because I was using a Bell's Galaxy under Rogers too (now i'm with telus) and I didn't have any problems with 3g or 3.5g. Try to go to setting/wireless and network/mobile network and see if your network mode is set on auto mode. Playing with that option seemed to have an effect on my 2g and 3g netwrok. I had done some googling before and I know that the best modem for us is bell.jk4.modem.

I installed the ugjk4 modem and everything looks to be working perfectly now.

I guess when I installed the custom ROM, it switched the modem to something else that wasn't compatible.

Thanks for your help.
