Belt holster triggers car dock mode

My new leather holster triggers the car dock mode every time I put the phone in it. My guess is the metal or the magnet may be triggering it. Has anyone else found this and if so, how can I get it to stop?

This isn't ideal but it is one solution: If you have rooted (gingerbreak) your phone and have an app that freezes apps, & freeze the Car Dock app.

It's the magnet for sure. The positive side triggers the car dock, and the negative side will trigger the desktop dock. If you're rooted, you can purchase the app "No Dock". If not, get a new holster or remove the magnet from the one you have.

I found that the car dock mode did not come on until I closed my case and the back of the phone touched the inside of the case. With a small strip of rubber and some black tape inside the holster to keep a small space inside I have had no more problems. It worked for me.

I had this problem as well. If I placed the phone with the screen facing in it would trigger the car dock. If I place the phone with the screen facing out (away from my body) it does not.

As reported by one of the Droid X2 user, I'm afraid even NoDock can be loaded on Droid X2, it couldn't prevent the dock mode yet.

I've looked up into the Droid X2 kernel source, it seems that there is something new introduced to Droid X2 that has skipped the tradition method for the dock event. That's why NoDock cannot prevent the dock mode.

If there is a demanding need for Droid X2, I will need a Droid X2 user to cooperate with me to test. (The previous Droid X2 tester has gone)

I posted about this when the X2 was launched. This problem is why you do not see stores pushing the case for the X2.
