best 2.2 rom and how to install :P

hi so im gettin a g1 from a friend for 40 bucks and its v1.5 and so i want to make it 2.2,, just wondering wut the best rom is and if u could gimme a tutorial on how to install it, cheers ^^

Well the "best" (read: "popular") would be CyanogenMod 6.

There's a complete wiki detailing the installation. Following that should be more than enough to get you started.
