All,

I need your advice for buying new android phone.
My budget shall be less then 500us$....
I dontwant to be dissapointed with the phone at least for next 1 or 2 years.

I have had Motorola Milestone with android 2.1,I'm satisfied with that gadget.
any Idea that shall I buy for the next? I want to buy it for my wife, She does not really want Motorola as it is too formal for women (as per she said)...
actually she really want Iphone 4, but my budget is not able to reach it, and i believe that most android phones will be worthy compared with Iphone product.

Welcome to the Android Forums!

There are a lot of Android devices available in that price range. What will probably limit you is carrier requirements. Do you want a phone available through a local wireless carrier? Or one that can be unlocked and run on a specific carrier in your region?

If I didn't mind using T-Mobile, I'd go with the Nexus S which has Gingerbread installed and is the lastest in android technology. But I'm a Verizon Customer (>15 yrs) so if I didn't get my HTC Incredible I would have opted going with the Motorola Droid X. The HTC Incredible is working out great for me and if I was locking into a 2 yr contract I wouldn't mind. But I'm not locked in and I'm able to upgrade right now. The HTC Incredible HD looks interesting and hoping that will be my next smartphone.

Person is definitely international. So no US carrier or phone suggestions.

I'm not sure if these phone have gone under $500 but I believe the international Dell Streak is. Right now, I would recommend it if it is on sale for under $500 unlocked, no contract.

The phone comes with Android 1.6 out of the box, but once it is exposed to the internet, either 3G or Wifi, you will be hit with the Android 2.2 update. That update will turn the phone into a real screamer.

Other than that, I believe the HTC Desire might have fallen under $500 of late, but the memory on that thing is rather limited.

I'm not sure if the HTC Desire Z has fallen under $500 in sale, otherwise I would recommend this.

Another affordable Android phone under $500 which might have a current Android 2.2 OTA is the Acer Liquid E.

Still the unlocked Dell Streak (the red one is especially lovely) is my top recommendation.

At the moment I leave in Qatar, and my orientation is international journey. So, Dell streak and HTC desire Z are recommended ?

I am not sure if the HTC Desire Z might be on sale after Christmas or not. It is a relatively pricey phone but I may expect some prices to fall above $500. Its a great phone if you're willing to pay for the difference.

The Dell Streak I understand went on sale in many international regions and under $500.

Between the two, its the sliding keyboard vs. the big tablet like display.

I would look out for the two if you travel around.
