Best android phone for VIRGIN MOBILE?

Best answer.

Do not even consider the Triumph. Price plays a key role here.

You want a solid device, somewhat outdated, but deffently solid all around for the money? Optimus V-$130

Willing to spend more for a better processor, better camera and has Ice Cream Sandwich? HTC One V-$200

You have WiMAX available in your area? Want the power of a dual core processor? Want the "best" android phone VM offers for the most money? HTC Evo V 4G-$300

Just gotta have that iPhone? Slap down $550 for the iPhone 4, $650 for the iPhone 4S.

Long story short, I'd jump for the Evo V 4G. It is the flagship of VM for now and is a proven workhorse. A 4.5 star review from almost 300 people on VM's website? A slew of accessories? And arguably the best prepaid phone for the price... It has a lot going for it. If you have the money, go get yourself one. I have had it since it launched, and I must say it is not only worth every penny, it is a phone that next year you won't hate yourself for owning.

To add one more point in favor of the Evo V, it appears that VM is not throttling the Evo V. Every Evo owner I know, when they go to Data Usage on the VM website, it does not give any usage number. Further, those that have used more than 2.5 GB of data are not reporting they are being throttled at all, on either 3G or 4G.

In my case, I had an Evo V for three weeks and saw the same (though I didn't use enough data to be throttled). When I returned my Evo and temporarily switched back to my Optimus V, I started getting data usage on my account, but only the usage I had done on my OV -- despite being three weeks into my plan it didn't show any data usage from when I had the Evo.

Now VM could change this tomorrow. And at some point I'm sure that usage will be tracked and 3G throttled, even though 4G usage is not likely to be throttled. But at this point it appears the Evo V users are not having their data usage tracked at all.

Just because they're not reporting any data usage does not have anything to do with having an Evo V, I think it is because there is a problem with their reporting system right now.

The Optimus V is a very solid device the forum community is strong. May not be as powerful as the others but once you find the sweet spot it can hold its own.

A year ago maybe, I suffered through underpowered Androids when the Intercept was the only Android available on prepay. Nowadays the phone is ridiculously slow for the money. I mean they're still selling Intercepts for petes sake. And the Triumph has an exceptionally strong dev community, doesn't mean that I would recommend it to anyone that I cared about. ;-)
As far as having the whole package, I definitely think that the Evo V with VM $35 plan still stacks up nicely against the Nexus.

The evidence I've seen indicates it is just the Evo. Further, the evidence suggests that VM is not throttling the Evo (even on 3G). If you have evidence that is different, I'd like to see it.

I've got the optimus elite, and I love it. We've got root going, should have clockwork mod soon, and its a great phone. With root tweaks, my battery life is incredible. For example, it says that its been running for 5 and a half hours on battery. I've been listening to music, wifi web browsing, and playing a Nintendo 64 emulator and the battery charge is still at 67%. I highly recommend it. The GPS is super accurate and fast too, plus phone service is really snappy.

If you live in a wimax area go with the EVO V 4G and if you live on a non wimax area go with the One V, to same money :). I live in a area where I get only 1 bar of wimax but speeds are good 9Mbps :) Good to play BF3 on my PS3.
