For Android... The answer is you probably don't need any. Make sure you keep the "install from unknown sources" box unticked and stick to the google play store for your apps.

Then make sure you check the permissions of any app you install... So you don't install a flashlight with the ability to make calls etc

Oh, and stay away from anything made by Cheetah Mobile and you should be fine.

By its own admission Cheetah mobile ISNT a mobile security company. Its a company who's business plan is to use your data to make it money.

Most of its apps, are ways of it gaining information from you, rather than keeping it safe.

If that was the only thing, you could argue that it was a fair trade... but many users have found that its flagship programs such as Clean Master have been guilty of lying to users about what they were actually doing

In order to do its job completely, any 'security' software must be trusted with a large amount of system permissions. If you cannot trust a company 100% to be trusted with these permissions (and there is a large amount of evidence to cast doubt on Cheetah Mobile) then you should not under any circumstances give them the full keys to all information on your device!
 
Just curious but is there a specific reason why you want to install an AV utility on your phone or is it more of just a precautionary issue? Keep in mind that AV products need to integrate themselves into the operating system to be effective so there's always going to be a hit on system resources, and don't just install one and leave it as is. Be sure to go into its Settings menu to make it work the way you need it to.

Thanks svim & psionandy for your replies. I m looking for AV cz I sometimes browse the internet and download some pics or videos and sometimes I share files with my friends through shareit. I am already dependant to the google play store for apps and of course will check the permissions from now onwards.
