Best app to send/receive texts from desktop??

I tried desktopsms but it never sent the messages I tried sending!
I'd like one that allows a usb connection as well as wifi..

RemoteSMS works great. The full version does cost $2.22 though.

Google Voice works great for free...if you can get an invite that is.

Although I havnt used it for texting, Ribbit Mobile has text message widgit that allows you to send from your pc but with your cell number. Its invite like GV but I got mine in 2 days or so. Free so worth a shot

I requested an invite a few days ago, should i even expect to get one? Do you know what determines if I get one or not?
