I came across Aloqa by accident.

It basically hooks you up with information based on your current location e.g. Cinema listings, ATMs, Restaurants, Pubs/Clubs, Events.

Links in with maps so can navigate to them too if in unfamilar surroundings.

You can customise it. There's even walks, cycle routes, scenic drives etc..

I was impressed and its Free! :D

Flixster; Gives cinema and video rental places in your vacinity and times etc
Google Navigation; Sat nav on your phone
Google MyTracks; Awesome tracking device for walkers/hikers/cyclists
Google Sky Map; Tells you the star/constellation names when you point at the sky.
Barcode Scanner; To activate QR codes for apps
Airhorn; For those that require attention
Google Translate; Translates and speaks in many languages
CardioTrainer; Route planner and calorie burner
Orange Wednesdays; 2 for 1 cinema tickets
ShopSavvy; Scan items barcodes and tells you where to buy them cheaper
UnitConvertor; Converts almost anything

I've got a few other apps, but they aren't that good. Peter Griffin soundboard, Light Sabre, Funny Jokes.

There's a thread in another forum with pages and pages of favoured apps.

Good apps. You forgot Google Goggles - removes the need for barcode scanner AND google translate. Just take picture, leave the rest to goggles.

As for unit converter, with Voice Search, you can just say into your phone 14 miles in kilometres and the answer comes straight back at you!

Finally, despite privacy concerns, I think the future lies with Google Lattitude - that's an app that raises as many possibilities as problems, but there are some fun things on the way I'm sure! Obviously it can be tied in to Buzz if you want it.

Whoops - forgot to add Gallery3D, if you use Picasa this is a must.

Aldiko - ebook reader
Dropbox
FotMob - football live scores etc
Dolphin - multitouch browser
Oyster Catcher - finds the nearest oyster top up points in London

I've found that my Apps i'm liking are:

Mabilo - Loads & Loads & Loads of cool wallpapers
Curverfish - widgets that are used for those toggle on/off functions

All these Apps seem to work really well, with no crashes
