Yup, that's exactly how it works. Why don't you just root and install a Froyo ROM? I've been running Gingerbread for over a month on my MT4G. It seems ridiculous that some devices are still running Eclair or earlier.

EDIT - What version of Android are you running? I'm pretty sure Eclair can sync with Exchange too. Unless you're on Donut this should be easy.

EDIT 2 - Just Googled the X10 and it says you're on Eclair. From home screen: MENU --> SETTINGS --> ACCOUNTS & SYNC --> ADD ACCOUNT --> EXCHANGE/CORPORATE. It should be that simple.

if I want to schedule an event and have a reminder set to remind me 45 days before, then once that day comes, change it to 30 days, 15 days leading up to the event, I don't see how a snooze feature can help me.. Outside of setting up multiple events 45, 30 and 15 days out how, is there an app that I can accomplish setting reminders that is customizable?

@ 1st paragraph: I couldn't agree more. My Palm calendar from my Samsung i-300 in 2002 was better than the android stock app. This is ESPECIALLY frustrating, as google calendar allows alarms to be set for any # of min/hr/d.

@ 2nd paragraph: you can set multiple reminders - right under the place where you put in the first reminder, you can click the plus sign to add a reminder, so you can put a reminder for 24h, 12h, 3h, 2h, 1h, and 10min if you like. Hope this helps.

ALSO - (kind of related) I JUST FOUND A CALENDAR SNOOZE APP! :D It's called..."calendar snooze." I downloaded it about an hour ago, and seems to do everything I want it to and more. (e.g., 1 - "snooze for" [#] [min/hr/day]; 2 - "snooze until [date/time]; 3 - default snooze, 4 - edit item, etc). It acts kind of like an alarm clock, going off every 15 - 30 seconds or so until you choose to do something with it (you can mute it though). Im super stoked on it so far.

Is there any calendar for 2.2 that allows for selection of time zones when creating an event? I sometimes schedule calls in 4 or 5 different time zones over the course of week, and it would be nice to not have to calculate the correct times in my head.

@ doctorjazz: Pocket Informant DOES do the repeating appointments (it does the # of each month; the 1st Monday of every month; and will even do the 1st Monday of [every 2, 3, 4] months).

I'm in the same boat as those Palm users - I'm just trying to find something that works as well as me samsung 1-300 from 2002...

@ world: My opinion on the calendar apps if anyone cares-

Jorte - had it, used it for a while. It was the cutest girl at the ugly girl party for a while but I think the competition has gotten better and Jorte is no longer the only game in town...PROS: (1) clean look, small type = lots of info on screen (2) straightforward and easy to use; (3) the (2x2 agenda) widget has tons of info on it, which lets me easily see what my schedule is w/o looking at the app CONS: (1) uses the stock new event screen, which blows; (2) too many touches to edit events, but don't like the lack of functionality of the widget.

Business Calendar - downloaded it a couple days ago. PROS: (1) LOVE the week view scrolling function (you can see the whole day sorted by time for 1-14 days, by sliding a bar on the bottom, this is GENIUS). (2) has way more functionality than Jorte. (3) The month view is probably the best out of them all (close second is Pocket Informant). (4) Also, I like the week view 2x2 widget. CONS: (1) aside from the sliding week view, Pocket Informant has everything BCal has

Pocket Informant - downloaded a couple days ago. The best I've got so far. PROS: (1) It has everything I want, (2) the event entry screen is not the stock screen (way better, esp in date entry & custom reminder time). (3) amazing month view (you can see the events for a particular day w/o leaving month view) (4) easiest to edit existing events (= less touches) (5) best integration of tasks. CONS: (1) no widget (really?), but I use Android Agenda Widget...If these two apps get together, everyone else might as well pack it in. :) (2) month view doesn't show schedule without touching the day.

-Touch Calendar - downloaded a couple days ago, loved it for what it did and because it was very pretty, but uninstalled because it doesn't do what I need. It's great as an overview for the month but it doesn't compete in most everything else.

-Pimincal - haven't tried it, but I might because the palm setup was so good and because everyone here swings from it so hard.

Thanks so much for your take on the calendar apps, it definitely pointed me in the right direction and I have been playing with Pocket Informant, Business Calendar and Agenda Widget for the past couple of hours. I as well tried Touch and although it looked OK it was missing many of the features that the others offer. Pimincal looks like it would be solid but I'm not ready to drop the $ even though it is a small amount just to see.

I do really like Pocket Informant except that it doesn't have a widget. I can respect the fact that they let you move it to SD because of this but it is actually very small. If only Agenda Widget could initiate opening items in it similar to how it works with Business Calendar. I have much playing to do to make my decision but I wanted to ensure I thanked you for your efforts.

@atarum: re - AAW.

I felt your pain until I checked my email about 2 minutes ago. I had emailed the dev of AAW regarding the possibility to have the "show calendar" button go to [not the stock calendar] and lo and behold, he got back to me with the way to do it.

Settings --> buttons and toolbars --> override date click/date click application are the settings you want.

As for now, AAW will send you to Calengoo, Business Calendar, Touch Calendar, Calendar Pad Pro, Gemini, and Jorte (to name the better ones). He said Pocket Informant is on the next update. Sweet baby Jesus!


EDIT - ack, just re-read your post. You figured out what I didn't - that you can assign a calendar app to AAW. Rest assured though the dev emailed me and said Pocket Informant was next up.
 
Great news javelin9, it will be sweet to have AAW point to Pocket Informant. I'm still torn and playing. So many things about Pocket Informant that I love but I keep finding things in Business Calendar as well. I love when your in the Business Calendar monthly and you select a bank of days it brings you straight to the weekly view enlarged/shrunk to fit those dates. Ugh, whichever I pick it better streamline my scheduling enough to make up for the time I played! ;)

NO WAY! I gotta say there are some features on Business Calendar which blow me away. I have it hooked up to my AAW so I'm playing around with that and Pocket Informant right now.

That will never happen. Right now we're doing the equivalent of driving across town to save 3 cents a gallon on gas. But it's the voyage right? Not the destination? :)
 
Just gave Pimlical/A, Pocket Informant, Business Calendar, Touch Calendar and Jorte a short tryout between me and my friend.

CalenGoo costs so and there's only a 15-min tryout period so it's passed.

Disclaimer: Just my opinions...

Touch is a nice looking, but not a powerful, calendar replacement.

Jorte is simple and efficient, comes with memo and tasks too, switching between views are too slow through.

Both Business and Pocket are a step above Touch and Jorte, but nonetheless rough around the edge.

Pimlical/A is the power user's choice, but has the "roughest" interface.
 
Shoot, I didn't know it was multiple choice, I would have also voted for Pure Calendar, I use it in conjunction with PimlicalA, for the agenda view (PimlicalA hasn't had widgets added to it yet).

Andyrubin, I agree, it's a power user's choice, but for those of us who used the Datebk3/4/5/6 apps on Palm, it's the only way to go. It'll get nothing but better as CESD develops it.

Touch Calendar added - running out of slots - I think it maxes out at 24 or 28 - can't see on edit...
 
@andyrubin: Had you used the Palm calendar in the past? Just wondering if your opinion on Pimlical is based in part on familiarity. I've used the Palm calendar from about 2002-8...loved it.
