Best Calendar Widget?

Just coming to Jelly Bean from iOS. On my Lockscreen I was using Intelliscreen (jailbreak app), where it would show me a calendar bar that I could configure to go x days out. The thing about it was the bar was just a bar that would have a counter on it for the number of events. You could then click on the bar and expand it to see the events and scroll through them in a list.

I noticed on this HTC One X+ running JB 4.1.1 with Sense+ (4.5) that even on the Home Screen, although the Phone and Go SMS Pro icons show the unread counts, the Calendar icon doesn't show any sort of event count. Thanksgiving is on my Calendar, nothing else, and when I add the Calendar Widget to the Lockscreen (using Widget Locker), it is really lame as the widget shows today's date (which I don't need to see) and then if I want to see any detail, even for just one event, the widget takes up almost half the lockscreen!

So I'm looking for a collapsible/expandable calendar widget or at least a calendar app icon that will show an event count on it and I can just click through to the normal calendar. Is either even possible? Is the Calendar not showing any sort of count because I don't have a notification setup for the Thanksgiving event on the Calendar?

I don't know that I've heard of an app that does that but there are two apps by one dev that I prefer (and calendar apps are very much a personal preference that it's hard to narrow it down sometimes). I like the PureCalendar Widget and/or Pure Calendar Grid.
Not sure they are exactly what you are looking for but maybe worth a look.

I use Smooth Calendar widget on my homescreen - set to show 3 days. You don't get a count of upcoming events but it can be configured to launch your favourite calendar app.
