Best calling/voip apps

I'm looking for the most reliable and cheapest calling apps...I'd like to save on my calling charges to Cameroon...

Viber only works if the other side has a Smartphone as well and Skype is actually ratheer expensive. Any good tips? Thanks!

I use Betamax services. They have an app called as mobilevoip which will let you use any of their service logins. Check the comparison table. The guy claims that he updates daily.

Be warned, some users have had issues with their billing. I have used many of their services for 6 years now and have had no issue whatsoever but if you will be among unfortunate ones, then there is virtually no customer service. Be ready to put $10 bill down the drain. I use ActionVoip and never put more than $10 and have disabled auto-recharge.

Take a look at rebtel too. Sometimes Betamax services act weird, rarely though and you may want to call them. Rebtel comes handy, though you pay double. I guess, thats fair when you want to call urgently.

well i came across voipjumper in combination with mobilevoip. voipjumper is a dellmont service as far as i can see, just like the ones you mentioned. betamax=dellmont?

they charge 12ct compared to skype's 24 ct.

the charges are so much cheaper than skype (and rebtel) whil i always heard skype was the cheapest option around (and they charge more than most other operators).

DellMont is adutch company that handles bill processing for Betamax.
Agreed that Skype is expensive than Betamax but when you look at the customer service, its worth it. When I started using it, many of my friends lost their money so I was always worried. I was student then, every penny was important. But I was lucky I never lost money, so even if I lose $10 now, I don't need to crib about it as I saved lot more than that.
In nutshell, YMMV.

BTW, what option do you use to recharge your account? I found that Webmoney is the cheapest and then CashU but I have never used these. PayPal charges 75 cents for processing whereas others charge just 10 and 35 cents resp. Anyone has any idea about webmoney or CashU? their reliability etc.?

I have used Cashu before to buy online, and it works fine for me. I have just bought VoipJumper credit through MobileVoip on my Google Nexus... we'll see....fingers crossed!!

it's 10,36/minute btw instead of 11 ct/min... almost 100 minutes of calling for 10 euro. its a good price for calls to cameroon. Germany mobile is 2 ct/min and Canada 1 ct/min.

Which country do you live in? in EU, you are charged VAT on the top of the regular price, which sucks a big time because Betamax saves money by sitting in free zone and we have to pony up. If you know anyone outside EU, sign up with their phone number and you will save VAT. I am not really asking you to evade tax, at the same time, I hate the idea that Betamax sits in Lichtenstein and we pay the tax (and they don't pay anything to our govts.)

BTW, does CashU work just like PayPal?
