General questions here need help new to droid:
1. Need an email program that can chose the account to send from... bit odd to not be able to specify it...
2. Also is there a way to create calendar invites from any other email than gmail?

Thanks!

I love k9. I'm pretty sure k9 receives push notifications by gmail if it's setup for imap?

I have two accounts setup in k9 and it lets you choose what account you want to email from, specify reply-tos, etc etc.

I'm not sure about your question #2. Sorry! Only dislike about k9 is the interface. Reminds me a lot of the blackberry interface. Bland, yet effective!

It does indeed. You have to enable IMAP in gMail. There are a few things you don't get in gMail if you use K9, such as the ability to set labels and you don't get threaded conversations.

I use K9 for my gMail account and 5 or 6 POP accounts. It has somewhat of a learning curve, but once you are familiar with it, it works really well.

Hmmm thanks K9 is bland but one thing I truly dislike is that you cannot, at time of creation, pick the account from which you are sending mail...

I doubt this is the answer you're looking for but I can with my Exchange account.

Yah thanks exchange rocks however seems if you want to schedule something on say email1@domain.com and NOT using gmail you are hosed... the fact that they base it off their crappy gmail calendar seems odd... really wish the OS was more robust allowing the user to select... in this regard seems BB and IPHONE will take the cake.

On the "Accounts" page (the one that lists all your email accounts, not the "Unified Inbox") select the account you wish to send from (Gmail for instance) and when the Google mail inbox is open select Menu > Compose.

Your email will be sent from that account.

Hope this helps. :D

You can also change the sender to each message. Compose a new message, press Menu, then Send As, then pick the account from which you wish to send.

LOL ty cannot believe I did not see that before... :(

Hey yet another K9 question... when I get an invite for email@mydomain.com (NOT GMAIL) then i open it there is nothing associated with an ICS file on my droid, wondering if anyone else had this problem and what app they might be using to fix/resolve this...
Thanks!

Not sure exactly how you are using labels, but for my purposes, I set labels in K9 by moving the message in the corresponding folder.

K9 just treats the labels as folders and that works fine for me. Pretty much the same way thunderbird works on the desktop.

Lex,
Sorry I wasn't more clear... I almost always set more than one label per message and I can't find a way to do that in K9. You can, as you point out, set one label per message.

I don't use labels just wanted that ICS file that comes in to actually register with something like a BB would operate :)
