best email client?

Must admit, you guys were right. Thank you! Tried it, bought it and I think it is a vast improvement over Gmail, which is no mean feat.

Honestly, I still use the Gmail app, as it plays nice and just works. But for my other accounts, I use Aquamail, mainly for the customization options, but other features are useful as well. Much better than the Samsung mail app.

Does this app leave emails on the server? I want to be able to save emails in this app without them being deleted.

Yes.

With hotmail/outlook - there is an option on the desktop version of the site that will let emails be deleted via pop3 and even if this is enabled and you delete stuff via your phone and Aquamail, deleted items STILL show up in a sub folder within deleted mail called POP. from there mail is recoverable or permanently deleted.

I will be using this for my Verizon.net account. I do use Outlook at home and have it set up to leave emails on the server for 10 days because on the standard email app on my Galaxy s3 they were getting deleted when I synced my emails on the phone. I sounds like this app will fix that issue.

I have now tried this client for several hours and generally absolutely love this app, however, there is one major snag, which only came out in the 'wash'.

The problem is relating to IMAP whereby my Outlook and/or Aquamail stop getting mail from Google servers with an error message "too many simultaneous connections" and with the account sign-in box popping up incessantly. After some research I learnt that this is due to mail clients polling the Google account too often and then the Google server responding by cutting the send/receive requests. There is a work-around but it is rather cumbersome and involves logging into your Gmail account online and resetting the connections - not something I envisaged when I changed to Aquamail.

Apparently Goole have a limit of 15 simultaneous connections for each Google account and this obviously gets eaten up very quickly when roaming with mobile devices from one cell location to the next as the device is trying to re-establish connection at each hop. To cut a long story short, when I used Gmail as my mobile client I never had this problem so I have returned to using it and uninstalled Aquamail, problem solved; it is a shame though as I like the app very much. I thought I let everybody know just in case someone runs into similar symptoms.

Dont know if you found this yet or not, or if its a viable solution for you.

If you long press on the account, and select special settings, the last is for checking frequency, just set this to every 15 mins or something appropriate.

Variables: I don't have my Gmail setup on Aquamail, I don't have anything setup via Imap.

Might be worth trying though.

Appreciate your suggestion, but it makes no difference to the IMAP problem. The whole issues centres around the fact that if you have multiple devices all logging into the same Gmail account then the problem starts. Since going back to the Gmail app, yesterday early evening, no problem as described previously has occurred.

It seems that the Google mail app is specially configured to work properly with Gmail; then you'd expect this . I like the push IMAP service, as wherever I am and whatever device I have on me my mail is in sync at any time. I basically use it as a very efficient (and FREE) alternative to corporate email services, like Lotus or MS Exchange. For that you can't beat Gmail IMAP - imho. Once again thanks for the suggestion.

P.S. I don't believe that the developer of Aquamail can really provide a solution as this is only in Google's hands by increasing the number of simultaneous connections allowed .

It seems that not everyone needs a reliable and functional email app; for those of us who do, and I am one of them, my search for a good app was frustrating. The standard email app which comes with the Samsung S3 leaves a great deal to be desired, not least because the font is virtually illegible on the black background and navigating the settings is confusing.
Other blogs suggested K9 Mail which I tried but found wanting in terms of setting up POP and SMTP accounts; finally, I chose Aquamail and realised within minutes that I had been lucky enough to find an intuitive app which makes setting up POP or IMAP accoiunts a complete doddle.
First download Aquamail (free) and then Aquamail pro unlock (peanuts)
In addition, the system and management of the app is clean, logical and umabiguous. Sending mails with attachments also works very well.:)Well done Kostya Vasilyev, keep up the good work.

I have tried everything (with tech support, too) Aqua also. Have an S3 (use that android email) and before today, when I deleted email from my S3, it would stay in my Yahoo Inbox on my PC. Now today, when I delete email on my S3, the email is also deleted from the Inbox on my PC Inbox and placed in my PC Trash. Tried Aquamail, and the same thing happens--mail does not stay in my PC Yahoo server Inbox. I tried too get to the Aqualmail settings to possibly change settings, but I could get to any page like that (except when I first set up the account).
