Best free wifi calling app (NOT Talkatone)

I don't why it keeps saying that it's not connected to the server and try again later. I would toss it entirely except it's got phone numbers, conversations, photos, etc. Would it be possible to find a better choice and maybe transfer these things to it?

I have been using Dingtone for years, and as long as I have a good internet connection it works fine.

I believe it is affiliated with the app you mentioned.

Did you have problems with it?
If so, what were the issues?

My main problem is getting a not connected to server message sometimes. Why isn't it connected? Suppose it had been an emergency. There have been times when it is on their main page (I guess) and it says sign in or sign up, but that hasn't happened lately, thank goodness.

Wow.
Yes, I agree that this type of service is not for emergencies.

However, any Android device with/without a provider/SIM card can still call 911 if it can reach a tower.

That is required by law.

In fact, if you find someone else's locked phone, you can call 911 with it even while it is locked.

As far as the 'not connected' issue, I have come across that.
What I believe happens is two-fold:
The app is battery optimized, and so the system shuts it down after a period of non-use.
Secondly, the app barely runs in the background, spending a large amount of time cached.
So when you are in a hurry and turn the app on, it is groggy from sleep.

A couple of things that could help is keeping the app in your recents when you suppose you will use it most often, and turning off battery optimization.
Personally, I found that keeping a solid Wi-Fi connection at all times helps the most. (I have a few devices that are Wi-Fi only, and use Dingtone on them.)
