best home replacement

Does having a alternative launcher take up more memory, I don't mean more storage space. Does it slow the phone down or anything like that?
 
I love ADW launcher EX. I tried Open Home (nice but slow as crap) and ADW launcher free (also nice but not as many customization options). As I said of those three ADW launcher EX is my favorite...absolutely love it and don't think I'll bother trying anything else.
