Best multiplayer app game (non pass phone)

Whats a good party type game that people can play against each other when nearby (preferably not not necessarily), that you can use your own phone for. Something thats not like a word based game like scrabble or something.

I too am looking for a list of good games to be played against chosen opponents (friends). I am bored of seeing games where you can 'play online' but not against your friends.
