Help Best music player WITHOUT equalizer?

CrimsonToker

Android Expert
Every music player that has an equalizer built in conflicts with my viper fx. I notice it moist going from Pandora to a music player. Suddenly the volume and quality drop drastically. I don't want to give up viper or even just the equalizer part of it. Do any players without? I know most these days have it built in...

I use Neutron Player and Viper4Android.

When you turn off the Neutron eq, it's truly off and there's a separate preamp control to match it to the system volume.

Things like Pandora are typically compressed, bandwidth limited and automatic gain control is applied.

Just like FM Radio, this allows for the volume to appear louder when it's really a midrange boost to offset the loss of bass.

Personally, I use Viper4Android for everything but my own quality rips - in that case, I turn off Viper and use the Neutron eq, as at that point I need far less compensation. I keep Viper4Android in my notifications for fast access.

It's audio, so your mileage may vary.

I've been using neutron trial version for a few days now, and it's working great. You were correct, Sir, the EQ is truly off when it says, the audio quality is great. The player works well to my needs. There are a few minor issues that bug me, but nothing big. The only really bothersome thing is that the star rating system is too close to the next song button, and my fat fingers press the wrong one constantly lol

Edit: forgot, can't add music to the "current playing" list, and the queue is separate from everything else. That kinds bugs me too, but if I'm sacrificing that for maintaining a good quality playback, I'm golden :D

So far this is the only app I can find that doesn't utilize an Equalizer, I'm not sure if the devs are going to implement an Equalizer in the future though - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.intuitiveware.yourmusic.musicplayer
Used it for an hour but then uninstalled. Going through my music library by artist looked a little like this:

Eric Clapton
Eric Clapton
Eric Clapton
Eric Clapton
Daft Punk
Disturbed
Disturbed

You get the idea. Splits not only my artists into multiple selections but the albums as well. Ocd no likey...
