I'm looking for a good money manager app. I had easymoney but I don't have a paypal account to keep using it. Just like to see what's working for others.

If you are looking to view your accounts (banking, credit cards, utilities, netflix, paypal, ebay, etc.) without using your phone to manipulate them Personal Assistant does a great job.

Personal Assistant?

I'd read it's terms and conditions very carefully before using it...

What in it's terms and agreements did you find issue with? So far what I see it is pretty standard fare, but I am no lawyer.

I have been using the program since mid November, read the terms and agreements (fairly standard CYA stuff), and really have no issues. It has served my purposes (I even use their web based interface when I am at my PC) have have more than gotten my $$$ worth.

I assume you can enter transactions as they happen and use the online part to reconcile/sync with your bank?

Hmm, it's changed now and may have only been the free version, but this says it all:

The one limitation (for me it is not a problem) is all transactions are gotten directly from the providers. It will automatically update one a day but you can do an instant refresh if needed to keep up-to-date. It provides both summaries and detailed info. I forgot to mention, it even give a summary of my cell phone usage.

So if I write a check there is no way to enter it so that I can reserve that as spent already? If that is the case, it isn't very useful for monitoring spending. I can just check the website for that functionality.

For real time spending you are probably right. It is a major convenience for me as the program puts all my accounts in one place. It also can send email for changes in status of accounts (great to be alerted if there is activity on little used credit cards). This is much easier than logging on to each one of my accounts. My checks that pass through my bank do show up the next day,

For me the checks float a while, I have to mail them to pay the bill and that can add a couple days at least. Guess I will keep looking. Thanks.

There are programs like Checkbook Genius , EasyMoney, etc. but they are the other extreme. They are standalone and from what I know do not sync up with your actual accounts.

Warning - Firewallet lite expires, too. 30 days, I believe. I've been test driving a bunch of app, and you may want to check our Cashew. I really liked it, for me it's only limitation was that I can't import my 8 years of existing data yet (they imply there will be a desktop hookup eventually).

Good luck!
