Then why was everyone else connected just fine, and the 3gs connected just fine, and the iphone4 didn't? And man... the iphone browser is sloooow

Who knows? I'm not saying Apple is infalible. I just think an issue like that could've happened to anyone. I hate AT&T with a passion, but I don't think todays issue had anything to do with them. As nice as that new display is, the OS is a dealbreaker.

Yup. That was ownage right there. I wish steve jobs would debate someone on stage when he presents those failures of "innovation"

As much as I dislike Steve Jobs...we all know that the connection issues weren't the phones fault. Look at what happened during the Android keynote at Google I/O.

Go figure. It doesn't want to work when he is demo'ing it. Even Apple's phones aren't immune from Murphy's law.

That's besides the point. Point is that mishaps happen...doesn't mean the device is crap.

You've got a point there. But at a cell phone keynote you think'd you'd have those bases covered. I mean, they are supposed to be "engineers" right? I know id have a fully secured and operational wifi if I was debuting something that relied upon it. Believe me.

It wasn't bandwidth...not much you can do about interference when there are some 500+ wifi devices/access points in the same room.

Then why allow them? If we are smart enough to realize it would be a wifi clusterfart, surely apple engineers should.

Same reason they allowed bluetooth devices at the Google I/O conference...probably just an oversight.

I just look at it as comedy, it was funny regardless of who it happened too as you heard the crowd laughing too

Without wifi there'd be no liveblogging, and therefore no crazy amount of hype while everyone is watching engadgets stream. It's good for apple's hype to have the livebloggers.

Whynot set up their own wifi and let the bloggers use it then....

I mean, it was the mifi's causing the damage..

Maybe it would be a security issue?

Meh. Fine they can all wire tether ha

That was my thought too. BT or Wired Tether (lets face it, in a room full of devs, there's bound to be a lot of jailbroken iPhones) or maybe some 3G cards.
