Samsung Galaxy j7 and I use messages

What sort of messages? I ask because I'm not certain what the relevance of the work computer is.

The truth is that if you mean SMS on the phone then unless you use a message backup app you probably can't recover them, either using the phone or a computer.

yeah if you did not back them up with smart switch whatever messages on your phone that was deleted are gone.....sorry

If there is no backup, you can use samsung data recovery software like Coolmuster Android SMS + Contacts Recovery to help you recover the deleted messages back. But, first you need to root your phone.

The act of unlocking the bootloader (usually a necessary step for rooting) wipes the phone.
