Best ROM - Battery wise?

Farhan23

Hi.. my first experience with S2 has not been great battery wise. I've found the battery life to be horrible. Even with all the battery saving features i.e. static background, widgets off, etc. etc., I have to charge the device twice a day. Its practically useless. I was thinking maybe there's some 3rd party ROM out there which would improve the battery life? I'm currently running stock 2.3.4. Any suggestions would be welcome..

I am going to move this to the all things root section. Hopefully there someone will be able to give you an answer.

Good luck and sorry your are not getting the best battery life. I just got my Samsung Galaxy S 2 a few minutes ago, got to get a regular sim card for it. I will update my findings later, when I try a few out.

personally i love batista 2.1 with the siyah 1.8 kernel. Gives me 2 full days if i want, (though i tend to charge every night anyway), with anywhere between 5-6 1/2 hours screen on time.

id recommend you install better battery stats first though and see what wakelocks/processes are killing your battery. Assuming youre not on it literally all the time though.

the usual culprits appear to be latitude and facebook chat, if you have them try signing out and seeing how your battery is

Do you have background data and autosync on? Those tend to be a battery hog, even though I must say I never understood what background data does when autosync is off.
You can still have push email with k9 even if background data is on.

Have you followed the tip posted on xda of fully charging while the phone is off, removing the battery and replacing it after no less than 90 seconds? This should ensure that the chip is no longer powered and many have reported this does help.

Running CheckROM and the battery is great! It lasts a day on average and I always have wifi, background data, autosync, etc on. Everything updates realtime since I have 2GB to use a month and can allow it. I probably play games on it for around an hour or so each day as well and it's always at full brightness. Can't really ask for more! It could easily last 2 days if I didn't use it so much.

Things that would improve your battery life are:-

1. Upgrade to 2.3.5 firmware. This can be stock Samsung or a custom ROM. It is a lot more battery friendly than your present one.

2. Freeze certain app's than run in the background regardless of whether you use them or not. Some of the worst offenders are WiFi Sharing, WiFi Manager, AP News, News and Weather, etc:

For details on this.. see here:-

Hope this helps. :D

i dont know what i got myself into.
i was running 2.3.3 on my gs2 and simply wanted to upgrade to 2.3.5
- i thought i had to root my phone to do this... im not tech savy at all and have limited computer knowledge. i dont know what a kernel is or even firmware for that matter.
i just want Andorid 2.3.5 how the hell do i get it?

by the grace of god, i think i was able to root the phone cuz now i can run bloatfreezer, but i just want 2.3.5!!!
