Root Best rom

I dunno I do like the nega-lite blurom but when I was still s-on I totally frackked my evo up trying to flash it! Id caution to keep away from aroma installer and that rom if your still s-on, but thats just my .10 cents!!!!

That rom can be installed S-on using 4ext recovery and enable smartflash.

Harmonia is perfectly stable, fast, and everything completely works. It is what stock should have been. I've been using it for almost a year now with absolutely no issues.

Jellybean ROMs need lower hboots to work (most preferablly the 1.50 hboot)

To run JB roms you would need to downgrade your hboot which means you must do the S-off proceedure. Have fun if you want to our great collection of JB roms :p
 
IMO wire trick was easier than the actual rooting process. Very infrequent is someone's phone messed up and the reward is worth the risk. Just read the instructions rather than just trying to wing it and you'll be fine.
 
The worst unrecoverable thing that I've seen regarding the s-off process is a very remote possibility of borking your sd card, that's why using a spare 2 Gb card is recommended. :p

Yeah there's even you tube videos showing the exact steps, basically there's no reason why someone shouldn't. Mmmmm beeeeeeer
 
Ok thanks . I guess I'll give this wire Trick thing a try when I get the time! One more thing, will certain ROMs like jb ROMs ever work on hboot 1.58?
 
I prefer a rooted, cleaned up stock ROM with the Mirage kernel. You will not hear much about them here because those who use them are not having any problems. Right now I am using Negaman's rooted deodexed stock rom with several mods.
 
I would say that for stability either Harmonia if you have not taken the latest March OTA and Unlocked Potential ICS if you have.
 
2.95 stock rooted modded, mirage kernel. It's good. Oddly enough I get random reboots one every couple days or so. Haven't flashed a rom I'm over a week lol. I'm bored with this phone :-\
 
I have been very happy with Harmonia. But a few days ago I did the S-Off and installed AngryBean Cyanogenmod JellyBean ROM, and so far it seems to be good.

For me, being kinda noob :) it seemed to hard, but it actually wasn't. But it sure was frustrating, the actual wire-trick part.

But if I would have to do it all over again, I would!

Just be careful, and follow instructions.

My SD card got wiped, but I did have previous backups, but better yet, the jbear script saved an image of the sd card on my laptop, so I was able to restore it fully

For some people it is a quick process, and for some people it will take multiple attempts to get the wire-trick timing just right.

And really, you can't brick a S-ON phone, so if it fails badly, the phone is still recoverable.

You do have to be careful not shorting anything on the phone, or applying any ESD (electrostatic discharge). That can permanently damage any device.
